Harvard Guide to Happiness, Freakonomics, Cant a Woman Be Einstein Essay Example for Free
Harvard Guide to Happiness, Freakonomics, Cant a Woman Be Einstein Essay The methods suggested from a research conducted over 10 years on 1,600 Harvard students are relevant today more than ever. The global trend of shift in workforce from manufacturing to white collar work necessitates workers obtain higher degrees of education. Individuals with higher education degree are more equipped with the capacity to better manage given tasks of the service sector employing analytical thinking. Workforce comprised of such highly educated individuals enhances competitiveness in the increasingly complex global economy. Thus the value of individual academic pursuit is critical in sustaining economic development of a nation. Assuming that students furthering their studies decide based on freewill, keeping students motivated is the key to encouraging them to pursue higher education. Basing on the results from the study, increasing interaction among the various elements within the school system such as faculty and peer-students propel students to achieve higher grades, become more intellectually engaged and increase their overall happiness. An NBER study of a group of Kenyan girls in 69 primary schools comparing those who were randomly selected to receive scholarships to those who did not receive any surprisingly concluded that greater education does not in fact lead to greater democracy. However I believe the relationship between education and democracy can either be strengthened or weakened based on the content of the education received by the citizens and how it is famed in the classroom setting. Education systems that emphasize and value freedom of expression through heated discussion among peers inevitably provide an opportunity for the students to experience democratic way of handling things. The way information was given to the young girls in Kenya and its substance may have been the reason in the failure of increased education to result in greater democracy. The essay that demonstrated that biological difference exists between male and female but does not suggest a difference in aptitude pose an important issue in the field of education. I agree that the results hint a change in the education system but I hesitate to agree with Leonard Sax in his belief that ââ¬Å"coed schools do more harm than goodâ⬠. The fact that current coed schools might not provide an environment for boys and girls to learn at the pace of their maturing brains does not necessitate those students to be educated in single-sex schools. The problem, if there is any, would lie in the lack of division of classes based on the level of each subject. Division of class in coed schools based on proficiency, for instance beginners, intermediate and advanced seems an appropriate response that effectively deals with the problem embraces outliers at the same time.

Write A Perfect Introduction Paragraph
Write A Perfect Introduction Paragraph It was one minutes before the eighth period bell rang for classes to start. I rushed into my sophmore english class, out of beath, to see my english teacher standing by the door. As we all scrambled in, proceeding to our seats, we were handed a piece of paper which looked to be an assignment. I quickly snatched an assignment and hurried to my seat. Little to my knowledge, this specific assignment that our teacher had planned for us, would change my view on english writing. I was not aware that in the next few weeks, I would be approaching one of the most difficult assignments and experiences in my educational life. Subsequently, our teacher quickly clarified that the assignment that we had to do was to simply write an introduction paragraph. Not only did we need to just write a well-written paragraph, but it had to be perfect. We had a few weeks to write a perfect introdcution paragraph on a choice of a topic, and we had to turn our paragraph into the teacher. If she saw a mistake (w hether it be grammatically or structurely), she would solemnly hand it back without notifying us on what our mistake was. We could turn our paragraphs in as many times as needed, before the deadline. If we were able to write a perfect introduction paragraph with no mistakes, we would earn a full 30 points. If we were not able to write the paragraph within the deadline, we would simply recieve a 0. After understanding the details of the assignment, the pressure began for me. I immediatley went home and wrote a first draft of my paragraph. I wanted to create a basic structure with my bridge and thesis. Arrogantly, I thought I had a perfect paragraph on the first try. The next day, I turned my paragraph into my teacher with a huge grin on my face. I just knew that I would get the 30 points on the first day. To my disappointment, she quietly returned my paragraph within a minute of reading it. My hopes were down, but I was not going to give up. Within the next week and a half, I must ha ve turned in my edited paragraph at least 5 times. I had my friends, family and even the TLC proof-read my paragraph. I wanted to succeed in this assignment, no matter how frustrated it made me feel. A few days before the deadline, I had confindently turned in my paragraph. Waiting patiently while my teacher read it, I was very hopeful that this would be the time when she would finally accept it. The moment I saw my paragraph put in the pile of accepted paragraphs, joy overcame me. Looking back on this experience, I still remember this because it gave me a different look on writing. I had to edit my paper numerous times, I had to recieve help from others and I had to pay attention closley to my writing. Even though I was not happy that I had to make this paragraph a perfect one, it felt great once I suceeded. This assignment has impacted me today as a writer because I now know that there is always room for improvement in any writing that I do. Its just the time and effort that I nee d to continuously put in each piece that I write. That assignment has showed me to never give up on writing, no matter how much stress it can cause me. Hard work, effort and ambition goes a long way in writing! As a human being in general, I am very ambitious and I never give up. These qualities shine through me as a student, as well. When it comes to school and my education, I am usually not too enthusiastic about all the work that i must do. Knowing that all the work and effort that i must put into school is going to help my future, I take school very seriously. As a student, I care so much about my grades and my goals for the future. When it comes to teachers and being in a classroom, I am quite specific. I long for a teacher who has the students best interest at heart and a teacher who is willing to go out of their way to help students succeed. I generally do not like when a teacher has one specific way of teaching, such as having students just write notes. Its preffered that there are various ways of teaching and having students interact differently. The type of learning that helps me the most and that is most beneficial is visual learning. If I am taught something, I want to be able t o see it. Thorough explanations and claficiations behind material also help me understand more deeply. In general, a teacher who simply cares about a students success is the type of teacher who i stride to have. Every year, I say to myself I am going to work extra hard and get straight As this year. Being a bit unrealistic in the beginning, my year ends up not turning out how i say. Obviously, most students would love to get straight As but that does not always happen. This year, I am going to make a difference and make realistic goals for myself. I am definatley striding for good grades this year, but saying I am going to get straight As may not be the most realistic goal. The difference with this year and other years is that this is the year that I must take the most serious. I am going to get quite involved with college information, tests for college (ACT/SAT) and planning my future. Having high goals for my future, I want to meet them. The way to meet my goals for my future is to work extra hard and continue to be ambitious. An enormous change I need to make this year has to deal with procrastination. In previous years, I seemed to procrastinate quite a lot. For the upcoming and subseque nt years, I want to cut out the procrastination quality completley. I know that not procrastination will only benefit me. This year, I have lots of ambition and I want to simply stride to do well. In addition to my general future goals with college and my future career, I have many goals for this specific year in English class. The main expectation and goal that I am aiming for is to improve with my writing. There is always room for improvement and if I learn even more about writing and improve, I am confident that this will carry me far in the future. Another expectation is that I improve with my reading. Honestly, I am not enthusastic about reading and like other students, I sometimes stuggle in this area. I want to enjoy all the reading done in this class and learn ways to improve my reading skills. This may include tips for annotations or any way to help me become a better reader and understand material easier. English is on my top list of favorite classes and I am excited to learn more and to improve!
Sustainability Benefits of Urban Density
Sustainability Benefits of Urban Density Shreysha Shreysha (Student ID- 4561552) Project Charter The Vision for Melbourne 2026 Project title: Capture the sustainability benefits of urban density Project description Designing more energy efficient cities is a praiseworthy goal in order to obtain sustainable development. Melbourne is developing as a compact densely populated place to live, learn and work. It has one of the largest urban foot prints and a trend of increasing population in CBD due to job opportunities and facilities that holds number of benefits that can help create a sustainable city moving one step further towards better future. The idea of the project is to utilize the forces generated by urban population into the electrical energy that can be brought into use for different purposes. Purpose and justification The main purpose is to take a full benefit of daily activities of Melbournians and channeling these forces into production of electricity. Utilization of increasing urban density to reduce energy consumption will lead Melbourne towards sustainable future. Melbournes CBD is set to become the largest business center with increasing number of people traveling daily towards the city for jobs. There are many sustainable techniques that contributes in lowering the energy consumption. So, use of floor tiles that convert the kinetic force from a footstep to light up the city is one of them. Installation of such tiles in the main city core where attraction of crowd is more likely can be beneficial. Same ideas can be incorporated in the playgrounds and park where children play. West free gateway is the busiest urban freeway in Melbourne where around 200,000 vehicles passes each day. Installation of specially designed slabs with energy capture device under West gate bridge that converts the vehicle force into electricity to light up the road will reduce dependency on the electrical grids. Melbourne has a booming economy and population that loves being physically fit. The trend and need of leading a healthy life style influenced huge numbers of Melbournians to join fitness center. So, it is of no surprise that there are numbers of gymnasium in Melbourne. Even though the conversion of moving wheels of exercise bikes to energy couldnt be justified in the past due to its high costing. Mass production of such motors and increase in demand may result in the price reduction and may change the scenario in a coming decade. Objective Laying the ground work for creating Melbourne citys sustainable energy future Implementing daily activities to convert kinetic force into electricity To reduce the load of electricity on distribution companies To feed the grids with electrical system rather than depending on it Reduction of energy bill To encourage the mass production of energy capturing devices making it affordable for the consumers. Success Criteria Prioritizing sustainability goals towards area where you can make the most meaningful impact and generate the biggest results. .The accumulated electrical energy can be used to power the services within the same building, area or routed to a new location. Cost effectiveness of the energy capturing devices Switching to energy efficient lighting levels in accordance with your production schedule will reduce long term electrical costs. Highlighting project initiatives to the public will help to attract a whole base of customers, resulting in increase in sales. Innovation of new technology that holds benefits for the community Assumptions and Constraints Assumption: Installation costs are high but considering the long run benefit the project becomes feasible. Reduction on the price of devices will attract more eyes towards this technique resulting in the success of the project Similar techniques to be adopted for other activities in future. Constraints: If the installation cost for the motor/generator (energy capturing devices) that is used in the exercise bike doesnt descend, energy output from this technology will have to wait a decade to recover the money that has been invested. Initiation of the project is possible only if the sponsors agree to invest. Lack of support from the community High level Project description A sustainable solution has always been a topic of interest and has been given priority because of its positive and healthy results. Therefore, proper study and justification of the project is to be submitted in order to collect funds form the sponsors (Victorian Government, private organizations) High level risks Energy output from the motor(devices) will have to wait a decade to regain the money invested on this technology if the installation cost for motors/generators in the exercise bikes doesnt descends. Will have to face a huge loss if the people does not support the idea of this technique. Summary milestone A greener city that lights up with the energy created by its urban residents. Over a decade or so, we might dream of a city that feeds the grid rather than depending on it leading the city to better and brighter future. Deliverables The main deliverables of this project are the installation of motors and generator of electricity which gets charged by the human and vehicular force in the area with maximum occupancy of people and vehicles. The main target area for this project would be the main CBD of Melbourne, Playgrounds, West gate bridge and fitness centers in Melbourne. Summary budget Sustainability fund distribution by the Victorian government can be one of the option for collecting budget for the project. The government is investing funds in sustainability projects to improve resource efficiency in Victorian community. So, this would be the opportunity to introduce strategic initiatives to receive investment through funds distributed by the government. Stakeholder list Electricity distribution companies Government of Victoria Residents of Melbourne Fitness centers Department of transport and main roads (Victoria) West gate freeway West gate bridge Sponsors Approval requirements Approval from the Victorian government Approval from the sponsors To be further investigated PM authority on staffing, technical, decision, conflict, resolution, budget management To be investigated Sponsor Victorian government Private organizations To be further investigated

Expansion Of Nato Essay -- essays research papers
NATO starts the year 2000 with the issue of concern. The European Allies' defense capability, stabilization efforts in the Balkans, and relations with Russia are at the top of a highly charged agenda. In 1999 NATO accomplished many tasks, which were reviewed in the December 15th Washington Summit. They approved an updated Strategic Concept at the Washington Summit; admitted as new members the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland; contributed decisively, in particular through the conduct of their air campaign and the subsequent deployment of KFOR (NATO-led international peace force), to the international community's objective of creating the basis for long-term peace and stability in Kosovo. What is NATO? NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The North Atlantic Treaty was signed in Washington on April 4th, 1949, creating an alliance of 12 independent nations committed to each other's defense. Four more European nations later acceded to the Treaty between 1952 and 1982. The now 19 members of NATO include Belgium, Canada, *Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, *Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, *Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States. (*Members since March 12, 1999) These countries commit themselves to maintaining and developing their defense capabilities, individually, and collectively, providing the basis for collective defense planning. The Treaty also provides the framework for consultation betw...

Grendel Vs. Beowulf Essay -- Epic of Beowulf Essays
Grendel à à à à à One of the most compelling and highly developed characters in the novel Grendel, written by John Gardner, and the poem Beowulf, written by an anonymous poet, is the monster, Grendel. Even though these pieces show two different sides to Grendel they are similar in many ways. Grendel evokes sympathy toward the hideous monster by making him seem like the victim, while Beowulf portrays him as being the most loathsome of enemies. The reasons behind Grendel’s being, his killing, and finally his death make him one of the most controversial and infamous monsters in literature. Grendel is the man-killing monster that Beowulf portrayed him as being, yet he is also the lonely victim of a judgmental world. Grendel is a descendent of Cain and is forced to live with the inherited curse of being denied God’s presence. Cain’s lineage has been known to spawn monsters, trolls, giants, and other undesirable beings, all of which were rejected from society. Beowulf and Grendel both speak of Grendel’s ancestor Cain, almost as if using it as an excuse for his rash and murderous actions. Beowulf told of a Grendel that mercilessly attacked Hrothgar’s meadhall killing men without reason. Grendel also speaks of this evil monster, but in a more sympathetic and excusable manner. Grendel is thought of as “the guardian of sins'; and is the physical equivalent to a man that has been shunned by God. He is des...

Moral Reconciliation Essay
From the beginning of the story to the end, Huckleberry Finnââ¬â¢s morals change rather dramatically and the novel focuses largely on this. Forced to reconcile his personal feelings of friendship for an escaped slave (Jim) with what society has told him is ââ¬Å"right,â⬠Huck learns through the course of the story to trust his moral instincts. As the story progresses, we see Huckââ¬â¢s character develop strong morals that eventually lead to his reconciliation. Early in the book, Huck is shown to have a low level of maturity and is very naà ¯ve. He relies more on the opinions of others more so than his own. Huck seems to know the rightful place of a slave, especially growing up in the American South. But this changes, in time, when he meets a runaway slave named Jim on Jackson Island. Huck knows he is defying society by not turning Jim in, but he continues to stay by Jimââ¬â¢s side and feels he canââ¬â¢t betray him as their friendship grows. This is an internal moral struggle for Huck, because he knows to society he is ââ¬Å"wrong,â⬠but to him their friendship made it ââ¬Å"right.â⬠While floating down the Mississippi, Huck and Jim come across a shipwreck. Huck, being the young, curious boy he is wants to explore it. Jim on the other hand is very reluctant to do so, but he feels obliged to follow Huck along anyways because he is a slave and Huck is white. On the wreck the two find a gang of robbers and a tied up man, they decide to leave immediately at this site. Huck and Jim then steal the robbers boat, but Huck feels a little guilty for doing this. So he makes up a story to a ferryboat watchman that his family was on the wreck and they needed help. The watchman showed up on the site just to discover that it sank, and the robbers most likely dead. Compassion is a key part in developing good morality and at this point Huckââ¬â¢s morality is slowly taking shape because he feels compassion for others. During a terrible storm, Huck and Jim are separated. Jim searches for Huck, but he cannot pinpoint him, so he goes to sleep. Huck eventually arrives on the raft to find Jim sleeping. Once Jim woke up Huck told him that the whole storm fiasco was just an elaborate dream he had, but Jim soon discovers he is lying and becomes upset. Seeing this, Huck felt guilty for hurting Jimââ¬â¢s feelings and apologizes. This is a pivotal point in the novel because Huck realizes that he has feelings for this slave. Once again he knows society would see this as ââ¬Å"wrongâ⬠and just plain crazy. Huck is having another internal conflict, but feels that his friendship with Jim is morally ââ¬Å"rightâ⬠contrary to what society would think. Huckââ¬â¢s moral dilemmas are rooted in conflicting systems of morality: that of his upbringing and that of his own natural feelings of friendship for Jim. ââ¬Å"I was paddling off, all in a sweat to tell on him; but when he says this, it seemed to kind of take the tuck all out of me. I went along slow then, and I warnââ¬â¢t right down certain whether I was glad I started or whether I warnââ¬â¢t. When I was fifty yards off, Jim says: ââ¬Å"Dah you goes, de ole true Huck; de onââ¬â¢y white genlman dat ever kepââ¬â¢ his promise to ole Jim.â⬠Well, I just felt sick. But I says, I GOT to do it ââ¬â I canââ¬â¢t get OUT of it. Right then along comes a skiff with two men in it with guns, and they stopped and I stopped.â⬠This a good example of Huckââ¬â¢s moral conflictions. At the climax of the novel, Huck as an epiphany. When Jim gets turned in by the conmen (the Duke and the King), Huck is devastated. Confused at what to do, Huck writes a letter that is intended for Ms. Watson, the letter reads: ââ¬Å"Miss Watson, your runaway nigger Jim is down here two mile below Pikesville, and Mr. Phelps has got him and he will give him up for the reward if you send. Huck Finn.â⬠After wrestling with his morals and consciousness, Huck makes his most important moral decision yet, when he states: ââ¬Å"All right, then, Iââ¬â¢ll GO to hellâ⬠ââ¬â and tore it up. He ultimately helped Jim escape. In the end, Huck acted on the highest level of morality regardless of societyââ¬â¢s laws and ideas. Early in the story Huck displayed childish traits and a skewed morality because of how he grew up. But Huck changed entirely in his time spent with Jim. When life was forced upon Huck he had to develop and ââ¬Å"grow upâ⬠rather fast. He quickly progressed from a naà ¯ve boy to a mature morally correct young man. Most humans strive for the betterment of themselves and society as a whole, and this is what makes Huckââ¬â¢s final reconciliation so compelling.

Representation of Love and Marriage in Pride and Prejudice Essay
Although love is considered significant in the world we live in now, it was not the case in the 18th century- Austenââ¬â¢s time. As time progressed, so did education, fashion styles, medical practises and most importantly social constructs and values. Love and marriage in Austenââ¬â¢s century, though it had some similarities, it was considerably different. Pride and Prejudice, a romance novel by Jane Austen, first published in 1813 depicts the manner of marriage and love in the Regency era. It is a story of transformation, in which the protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet and her counterpart change to believe that love does transcend all things. The novel delves into the passion and excitement of love, but also the detachment that exists between loveless couples. Marriage in Austenââ¬â¢s time can be described as a business transaction. For the women, the manââ¬â¢s income was all they could depend on. And usually for men, the womenââ¬â¢s dowry or ââ¬Ëportionââ¬â¢ would be taken under consideration. In Pride and Prejudice, the marriage between Wickham and Lydia was purely based on money, and perhaps Lydiaââ¬â¢s foolish adoration towards Wickham. Wickham married Lydia for the money, which he lacked. Before their matrimony Mr Gardiner stated in a letter ââ¬Å"They are not married, nor can I find any intention of being so,â⬠however after there was a discussion between Darcy, Wickham and Mr Gardiner regarding the ââ¬Ëpaymentââ¬â¢ behind their marriage Wickham was more than ready to marry Lydia. Mr Darcy was willing to pay off all Wickhamââ¬â¢s debts and give them another thousand pounds if Wickham was to marry Lydia, and Wickham would only marry Lydia if those conditions were provided to him- this is a marriage com pletely based on a monetary deal. Furthermore, the narrator says, ââ¬Å"Wickham still cherished the hope of more effectually making his fortune through marriage.â⬠This clearly shows that not only women, but men also gained financial means from marriage. Another example in the text where marriage is represented as a business deal is when Colonel Fitzwilliam states, ââ¬Å"there are not many in my rank of life who can afford to marry without some attention to money.â⬠Austen uses dialogue, to reinforce the fact that marriage is money and the bluntness of Austenââ¬â¢s choice of words results in the reader of the modern era to be strongly opposed to what marriage use to be. The novel represents marriage as a business trade, shown by the relationship between Wickham and Lydia. Each gains wealth from the other, and not care, trust or love- the morals of a marriage in todayââ¬â¢s society. Men looked for women who had many ââ¬Ëaccomplishments,ââ¬â¢ not necessarily if they loved them, or if they were intelligent or had good personalities. ââ¬Å"A woman must have a thorough knowledge of music, singing, dancing, drawing, and the modern languagesâ⬠¦,â⬠stated Caroline Bingley. Not only accomplishments were to be perfected, men looked for beauty as well. In the case of Mr Bennet, he followed the social trend where he married based on appearances and accomplishments. Mrs Bennet was a beauty, however she turned out to be a frivolous, foolish and oblivious character, resulting in an inharmonious marriage. A woman in a marriage was about presentation, to be beautiful and accomplished- to not embarrass the husband. Therefore men did not search for their soul mate, but rather a woman who was presentable. Not only did Mr Bennet marry to a beauty, it is also the case for Mr Bingley who loved Jane for her beauty. Austen represents marriage to be decided on by a woman ââ¬â¢s charm and accomplishments, in order to win a manââ¬â¢s heart a woman had to be talented in all the art forms. To be accomplished was a vital requirement for women. Marriage for women is represented as their ultimate goal in life, because it was impossible to live independently- especially the women who belonged to the genteel class. Genteel women were not allowed to pursue professional careers or university degrees. The only accepted occupation was to be a governess, however they were not highly respected. Consequently, women depended on marriage to have money of which men would be the one who provided it. Charlotte Lucas did not, ââ¬Å"think highly either of men or of matrimony, marriage had always been her objectâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ and that was the reason for her to marry the pompous Mr Collins. Charlotte did not love Mr Collins, she was twenty-seven and still dependent on her family- the only goal she had was to be married, and she was desperate. For women to be dependent on family was something to be ashamed of and the only way to escape out of under the protection of family was to marry. Using characterisation, Austen represents marriage as the most important event, the only respectable option for women. Marriage was a must for those living in the regency era, unlike today, where living independently is accepted and even encouraged. Not only was marriage from the Regency era different from today, so was the concept of love. Love was not sought for in Austenââ¬â¢s time, rather it would just be convenient if you were really in love with your fiancà ©. Pride and Prejudice represents love as an unnecessary asset in a relationship. It is not required to love someone, in order to be with him or her and even be married with them. In the case of Charlotte and Mr Collins, love was not apparent. After Charlotte accepted Mr Collinsââ¬â¢ proposal, the narrator states that, ââ¬Å"his attachment to her must be imaginary.â⬠Charlotte did not love Mr Collins, but accepted his hand in order to obtain a comfortable home. She was not looking for love to be happy, she wanted social security, which could be provided by the clergyman. Charlotteââ¬â¢s view on love represented societyââ¬â¢s view, which is that love is not a vital component of marriage, but rather gaining financial security. The absence of love within a marriage was acceptable. Another type of love was radical, new, true. Mr Darcy and Elizabeth represented true love, though it was formed from misunderstanding and disagreeable first impressions. Love grew despite the differences; Austenââ¬â¢s protagonists are in true love, the type of love where they can conquer all things. Elizabeth, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦with tears in her eyes [replied], ââ¬ËI love him,ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ though her pride influenced her to misjudge Mr Darcy she overcame her wall of prejudice and was deeply in love him. Similarly with Mr Darcy, he disregarded his embarrassment and preconceptions and confessed his love for Elizabeth. Austen composed the two central characters to fall in true love, implying the idea that true love is the better and more rewarding. Elizabeth did not totally conform to the social constructs, she was self-reliant and romantic- she wanted love, unlike Charlotte who wanted a comfortable life. And because she did not follow the ways of conduct books, she was rewarded with true love. Though the two characters were deeply in love, they were not hopelessly in love, another radical aspect of the relationship between Darcy and Elizabeth. Mr Darcy confessed to Elizabeth that he,â⬠ardently admire and love you [Elizabeth].â⬠He uses the word ââ¬Ëadmire,ââ¬â¢ showing that there is respect and equality between the two, Mr Darcy did not love Elizabeth only on her appearances but of her ââ¬Ëimpertinenceââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëliveliness of your mind.ââ¬â¢ Love, in Elizabeth and Mr Darcyââ¬â¢s case is represented as the first step towards eternal happiness, it is the ideal marriage with a balance of emotion and rationality. Both the social and radical perspectives of marriage and love were represented in Austenââ¬â¢s Pride and Prejudice. Through Jane and Bingley, Charlotte and Collins and Lydia and Wickham the social standard of marriage is presented. And through Elizabeth and Darcy, a new outlook of marriage and love was formed. Todayââ¬â¢s society revolves around love, but in Austenââ¬â¢s time finding marriage was far more crucial. Jane Austen renews the ideas of love and marriage and re-presents them by moulding them with her values. Though she writes in the romance genre, she ventures away at times to create her idealistic true love. In conclusion, marriage is represented as a business transaction, love may be thoughtless but to find true love is to fall in love with ones personality and not only their appearances. Austen believes that marriage is based on the strong foundation of true love and intellectual unity within the marriage.
